Report

* Having already made landfall in the Philippines earlier this week, Super Typhoon RAGASA, has continued its path through Taiwan and southern China, with Vietnam now bracing itself for heavy rain and floods.

* It is the most powerful storm recorded this year with peak winds of 270km/h, having first made landfall in the Philippines on Monday. The Super Typhoon subsequently travelled across the South China Sea, affecting Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and southern China, with heavy rain and strong winds. Sadly, up to17 people are reported to have lost their lives and there has been widespread property damage and flooding.

* The storm crossed the Chinese mainland, where nearly two million people have been evacuated, with sustained winds of 144km/h and higher gusts. It is reported that wind speeds are now expected to weaken as the storm moves over land, but rain will be torrential and slow-moving across the region for several more days.

* Anticipating that many of our clients will have been affected by losses caused by this storm, our Singapore office has established a CAT response team to deal with incidents in connection with this serious event, including any claims or survey requirements.

* Please do not hesitate to make contact 24/7 if you are concerned with any claims that may arise as a result of this storm via the ‘instruct us’ button on this email or from our website.
